Crëwyd y cerddi hyn fel rhan o brosiect yn Sir Drefaldwyn a ddaeth i ben mewn perfformiad yn Ysgol Uwchradd Llanfyllin. Mae’r plant wedi creu cerddi sydd yn cynnwys digwyddiadau cyn geni Taliesin, er engrhaifft boddi Cantre’r Gwaelod, cyn olrhain hynt Taliesin o’r foment benderfynodd Ceridwen creu ei swyn hyd at ddadorchuddiad y crochan llawn aur ar draeth Bae Colwyn. Mae dau gerdd cynharach a grëwyd mewn ysgol fabanod ym Metws, ger Maesteg yn dilyn.
These poems were written as part of a project based in and around Llanfyllin in mid-Wale that culminated in a performance in the theatre of Llanfyllin High School. The participating shools are within easy reach of the localities where many of the events of the story take place.
Taliesin is the spirit of Welsh poetry, born from a botched magic spell, chased and eventually eaten by a shape-shifting witch. Once reborn the infant Taliesin spends forty years floating in a bag in the sea before being fished out, already speaking poetry and transforming the lives of Elffin, the man who found him, and all those around him.
Llanfyllin Anfodlonrwydd Ceridwen
llyn hardd clir
ynys fach dawel
coed yn disgleirio yn llwybr yr haul
niwl fel sidan tenau
ond wrth nesáu
llyn budr drewllyd
ynys â mwd sy’n sugno
coed sy’n sibrwd yn gras
sgerbydau’n hongian o’r canghennau
niwl llwyd sy’n drewi
fel bol dafad yn pydru
Llanfihangel a Llanwddyn Creu’r Swyn
dail ffres gwyrdd yn sibrwd am gylch bywyd
pren sych yn clecian am y pethau sy’n aros
– natur a chalonnau hen bobl
gwreiddiau yn datgan am y pethau sy’n angori
– esgyrn a chalon gadarn
brigau yn griddfan am bethau bregus yn torri
Llansantffraid
Gwyddno looks at Cantre Gwaelod
he sees
lifeless pale flowers
drooping leaves
petals floating on the surface
underwater dead people
staring at him wth blue and purple lips
trying to shout for help
as their ripped clothes drag them down.
He roars at the sea and himself
Gwyddno’s Horses
drooping bloodshot eyes leaking pus
spindly legs collapse
ribs clog with fluid
he whips them with anger until they bleed
Ysgol Uwchradd Llanfyllin Cwrso Gwion Bach
Clustiau’n dynn ar ei gefn
Ei lygaid yn fawr fel soseri
Chwys yn diferu gwlith ar ei gôt
A’i flew yn syth i fyny
Milgi yn rhedeg nerth ei draed
Dannedd miniog melyn brown
Poer in llifo i lawr ei ên
Cyhyrau yn tynháu
Ceg yn agor
dannedd yn brathu llygaid yn cildyllu
Anadl ysgafn ysgafn
Sblash. Mae’r ysgyfarnog yn newid i bysgodyn
pysgodyn yn nofio heb edrych yn ôl
wyneb ofnus
ceg yn agor a chau fel drysau electrig
corff seimllyd yn chwys oer
Mae o ofn marw
Mae’r pysgodyn yn gweld dyfrgi dros ei ysgwydd
Sblash. Mae’r dyfrgi yn dilyn y pysgodyn i’r dŵr
Dyfrgi yn nofiwr da
llygaid gwaedlyd
danedd miniog
Chwant lladd sydd yn ei wthio ymlaen
Aderyn bychan
Adenydd yn brifo
Corff yn chwysu
Calon yn pwmpio
Crafangau peryglus
Symudiadau ffyrnig
Pig gas greulon
Adenydd cryf cyflym
Ysu am ddial
Gronyn sych ysgafn yn cylchdroi yn yr awyr
Sðn y gwynt yn chwibanu yn isel ac yn hir
Awyr dywyll lwyd ofnus yr wyf.
Mynd trwy ddrws yr ysgubor a glanio mewn mynydd o wenith
Chwilio am y gronyn gyda’i llygaid bach cul.
Un slei bach tew peryglus yw hi.
Crib coch, pig main hir.
Crogfochau yn hongian ac yn siglo o un ochr i’r llall
Dawnsiwr yw hi yn dawnsio dawns
wrth edrych, wrth neidio, wrth fwyta
Dawns Marwolaeth
Mae ei groen yn cosi mewn poen sy’n llosgi
cyhyrau’n cryfhau
Mewn poen heb enw
esgyrn yn crebachu
yn drwchus yn denau, cryf, llyfn
Mae ei ymenydd yn troi mewn syndod gan ofni’r wyrth ryfedd
sy’n achub ei fywyd
Llanfechain
The one who swallowed me
will weep as she stitches my leather prison
The one who was meant to have my powers
will grunt like a bull as he throws me towards the sea
The one who knows all
will think, grin, and sleep as a floats towards freedom
cruelty and thunder
will die
and grow
into
golden sunlight
Llanrheadr Llangedwyn
People talking loudly, everyone was laughing, busy drinking.
Shiny white marble floor. It felt like walking on ice.
Silver and gold patterned thrones
The king and queen smiling at the guests.
She wears a ring on her middle finger
Carved from beech heart wood.
I wanted more of the spicey sharp bitter taste
Everytime I took a sip a servant filled my glass
The wine took my mind away – then I insulted the king
Now I’m in a filthy freezing dark dungeon
I rattle my chains to keep the rats away
and fear death.
Pennant Llanrhaeadr Dal Taliesin
Roedd ‘na gerrig gwlyb yn lle pysgod
ochneidiais mewn siom
Doedd o ddim yn deg
stampiais ar y cerrig crwn ar y llawr
Gwylltiais wrth weld y cerrig yn sychu yn yr heulwen
teimlais fel tynnu fy ngwallt
Sgleiniodd fy nagrau oer cas
doedd dim gobaith yn y môr
Roedd fy nghored, fy mol, fy mhoced, fy mhen, fy nghalon yn wag
Teimlais fel boddi fy hun
Ffeindiais garreg
roedd pen i’w weld yn y garreg
roedd goleuni i’w weld yn y pen
roedd gobaith i’w weld yn y goleuni
Taliesin!
Bro Cynllaith
a severed white finger
curved and limp
wearing a simple gold ring
that shines like the sun
reflecting on water
a fat hooked finger
with shredded skin
and scabby clotted blood
a bent gesturing finger
whispering “come here”
his jewellery flashes his boastfulness
his secret garden shows his selfishness
the sea and mountains shout his power
his glass mirror reflects his fragile love
his pig’s heart beats with pride
his neglected home mumbles his unreliability
his simple clothes show his honesty and kindness
his bony horses prove his weakness
his tiger like eyes show no fear
Llanfyllin
The poets strut their phoney truth covered in fake words and fancy clothes
Taliesin used playful magic to reveal their stupidity and lies
The poets’ ashamed anger was scalded by the child who knew too much
Taliesin chilled their hot anger with the destructive nature of the wind.
Elffin was slouching in a stinking damp corner
The stench of dead rat hung in the air
Llanfyllin
My horses shine with health and strong energy
brown like my ploughed fields
white like the foam of the sea
black like the night’s sky
All twenty four of my silky horses are ready to win
A big black cauldron hunches on the beach
cracked, battered and rusty
with faded and worn patterns of the plaited sea
Elffin’s family and friends struggled to lift the lid
instantly a blinding light
flashed out and hit them
There was gold like the sun
The gold was polished by
the salt of the sea
Taliesin’s magic
the sun’s light
the poison’s burning
and the power of knowledge

Images of Llyn Tegid
The castle and the king and the people all drowned
A golden red harp floats on the water
The dark brown water moved gently to the banks
The open daisies peeped out of the soggy patchy grass
The still light water looked deep and dangerous.
We can see the orange sun’s reflection in the lake

Gwion Bach’s River
I am shallow and fast
Sometimes I scream.
Sometimes I whisper
I can see your wiggly wobbly reflection in me.
I am deep and blue
I curve to the sea
Full of rocks and fresh water.
